This book makes new moms feel less alone

What do new mothers need the most? Sleep, for one. But after sleep, they need good friends, people to let them know they aren’t alone in this strange new world they are navigating.

Enter Catherine Belknap and Natalie Telfer, friends from high school who reconnected when they became mothers. They’re now best friends with seven kids between them and 332,000 followers on Instagram. They produce mom-friendly content that frequently goes viral in the form of videos and photos; everything from reminders that everyone’s life isn’t as perfect as it looks on social media to sharing thoughts on body shaming to pictures of their kids having tantrums.

Their new book, “Cat + Nat’s Mom Truths: Embarrassing Stories and Brutally Honest Advice on the Extremely Real Struggle of Motherhood” (Harmony Books), is funny, honest and encouraging, with chapter titles like “You Never Pack the Stuff You Really Need at the Hospital” “You Are Not the Only One That Feels This Way” and “Toddlers Are Basically Just Small Drunk People” (“they will scream at you if you try to stop their fun”).
