The end of an era that may or may not have been elite.
The Ravens have agreed to trade Joe Flacco to the Broncos, ESPN first reported Wednesday, after 11 seasons, one Super Bowl title and diminishing returns that ended with losing his starting job. Denver will send a mid-round pick in the deal, NFL Network reported.
The rise of Lamar Jackson in Baltimore made Flacco’s fate seem certain: He would either be waived or dealt. And while he cannot officially be traded until the new league year begins March 13, Flacco will become John Elway’s next quarterback solution.
The Broncos last offseason signed Case Keenum, who did not pan out, just like each quarterback Elway, as GM and team president, has tried since winning the Super Bowl with Peyton Manning following the 2015 season.
